Architectural shingles
A laminated construction gives architectural shingles a layered profile. Product options vary in color, shape and tested performance. The exact product and installation requirements matter more than a broad category name.

Free roof inspections. Repair and replacement options explained.
A shingle roof works through the covering and the layers beneath it. Explore repair and replacement choices for a Tuttle property.
Shingles overlap to shed water down the roof. The deck supports the fasteners, underlayment provides a supporting water-control layer and flashings manage the places where the surface is interrupted. The covering and those connections need to work together.
We consider shingle condition, roof slope and the support below it before recommending local work or replacement. Replacing a few damaged shingles is a different project from renewing a roof with brittle material across several slopes.

Three-tab products have a flatter repeated pattern, while designer products use different shapes and appearance. A change in profile still needs compatible starter, ridge and flashing details.
An impact classification belongs to the named product and test. It is not a promise against every hail event. Ratings, product availability and the full installed assembly belong in the same selection conversation.
A valley concentrates runoff from two slopes. Step flashing carries water at a roof-to-wall joint, and a kick-out detail directs it away from the wall at the lower end. Pipe boots and skylight flashings connect an opening to the shingle courses around it.
A reroof is an opportunity to address damaged or poorly connected details instead of burying them under new material. Lower permitted shingle slopes also need underlayment appropriate to the product and assembly.

The cost tool uses a bounded Oklahoma / OKC-area architectural-asphalt example. It does not apply the same rates to every shingle profile.
Actual roof surface, slope, access and the selected product affect the base material and installation work.
Existing layers and the exposed deck condition change removal and wood work. A planning model that assumes usable decking needs a separate allowance when wood is damaged.
Flashing, roof edges, ventilation and related skylight or gutter work determine the finished scope.
Yes. A laboratory impact classification describes performance in a particular test. Real storms, ageing and installation conditions differ, so the classification is not a damage guarantee.
Asphalt shingles require a suitable slope, with a minimum of 2:12 in the cited technical guidance and additional underlayment considerations at lower permitted slopes. A roof below that needs a low-slope system.
Color is one part of selection. The product, attachment, deck, underlayment and roof details still determine how the assembly is built.
Tell us about the shingle roof and the repair or replacement you are considering. We will talk through the material and the complete assembly.
